Popular Holdings Limited is an investment holding company. The Company operates in four segments: retail and distribution, publishing/e-Learning, property development, and corporate. As of April 30, 2011, it had a total of 139 retail outlets across Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong. During the fiscal year ended April 30, 2011 (fiscal 2011), it opened 14 outlets in Singapore and Malaysia. Educational Publishing House (EPH) is the publishing arm of the Company and is a publisher of educational books, ranging from assessment and textbook titles to children's books. Its subsidiaries are engaged in retail and distribution of books, magazines, stationery, compact disk (CD) read-only memory (ROM) and audio products; property development; real estate investment, and provision of logistic services. On September 21, 2010, a the Company acquired an additional 25.81% interests in Active & Independent Education Limited (A&I). In September 2011, the Company acquired freehold land.
