Eastern Holdings (EHL) is pumping some $10mil into Hong Kong‐based Schroder Asian Asset Income Fund. The fund's objective is to provide investors with income and capital growth over the medium‐ to longer‐term, by investing primarily in Asian equities and fixed‐income securities. The investment amount will be derived from the company's internally generated funds. As at the end of last year, the Schroder Asian Asset Income Fund had some HK$18.5bil (S$3bil) worth of funds. About 16.6% of it is invested in the money market, and 12.7% in Chinese equities. The fund also invested about 12.6% of its assets in Australian equities, while Singapore and international equities each make up 11%.
