Upbeat US Data Lifts Equities

US equities reopened after a holiday on Monday with a strong foothold on upbeat data. Manufacturing activity grew in July at the fastest pace last seen since June 2011, the Institute for Supply Management reported. New orders also jumped to a two-year high. Construction spending rose faster than expected, marking their best level in four years. This latest set of data point to signs that recovery is gaining traction in the world's largest economy. All eyes will now be on nonfarm payroll data due Friday.
