US FOMC - Preparing for exit

Bernanke reassured investors that the Fed will continue to press on,
and it will not take overt steps to scale back its asset purchases for now.
The improvements in economic and labour-market conditions to date
still fall far short of what the Fed will need to see before it considers
tapering monetary stimulus.
Nevertheless, the Fed provided some
milestone numbers to indicate when it may end its stimulus policy.
Bernanke at a news conference indicated that it will start cutting back
later this year and may stop entirely by the middle of 2014 if the
economy continues to improve and the unemployment rate falls to 7%
by mid-2014.
