Agriculture is one of the worst performing sectors in Singapore for May. Many of them have fallen hard after their latest earnings results. Over the same period, the Malaysian palm oil futures price (Aug delivery) fell from around RM3,500/t to reach RM3,019/t on 23rd May, the lowest level this year. However, after reaching its through last Wednesday, palm oil prices have rebounded sharply by 4.1% to RM3,144/t yesterday.

Last week, Bloomberg reported that IOI Executive Director Mr Lee saying that he expects palm oil prices to be at RM3,200/t in the next 1 to 2 months on strong Ramadan and Eid festival demand. IOI is Malaysia's second-biggest palm oil producer

Here is a quick recap of the palm oil players listed in Singapore.

Bumitama Agri $0.91
With a market capitalisation of S$1.6bn, the Indonesian palm oil producer is Singapore’s first sizeable new listing on the SGX this year. It IPO-ed in April at $0.75 and remained resilient throughout the past 2 months.

Wilmar $3.76
Wilmar shares were punished after its earnings results earlier this month. It reported a 34% year-on-year decrease in net income, mainly due to an unexpected loss in the volatile Oilseeds & Grains division. However, the company other divisions (Palm & Laurics, Consumer Products and Plantations & Palm Oil Mills) posted robust earnings growth.

Indofood Agri $1.20
Indofood Agri is currently trading near its October 2011 low. Yesterday, the stock opened at $1.18 and reached an intraday high $1.225, before closing at $1.20.
