  • Catalist-listed GKE Corporation led the 100 most actively traded Singapore stocks in early 2025 with a 25% gain, reporting a record net profit of S$4.4 million for 1HFY25 on 13 Jan, driven by strong performance in warehousing and logistics, and plans to diversify into telecommunications mobile handsets and accessories.

  • Multinational oil exploration and production company Rex International and precision engineering firm Grand Venture Technology have posted the next highest gains. Rex International transitioned from Catalist to the Mainboard in March 2022, while Grand Venture Technology made the move in November 2021.

  • Rex International recorded the highest net institutional inflow relative to market cap over the past 12 sessions, followed by Seatrium, Suntec REIT, LHN, and OKH Global. In absolute terms, Seatrium booked the highest net institutional inflow after UOB during the 12 sessions.

Asia stocks have begun 2025 with a cautious tone, seeing the FTSE APAC Index decline 1.5% in SGD terms, after generating a 14.5% total return in 2024. As the IMF noted last week, global growth is projected at 3.3% for both 2025 and 2026, below the historical average of 3.7%, with medium-term risks tilted to the downside, including divergent near-term risks and potential policy disruptions affecting fiscal sustainability and financial stability. The STI has generated a marginally defensive performance over the past 12 sessions, with a 0.6% gain compared to the 2.5% decline for the FTSE ASEAN All-Share Index.

Over the past 12 sessions, Singapore's 100 most traded stocks have generated a median flat return. Below is a table of the 10 stocks among these 100 that have seen the strongest price performances since the end of 2024.

As tabled above, among the 100 most active Singapore stocks in early 2025, GKE Corporation (“GKE”) has performed the strongest with a 25% gain since the end of 2024. This has seen the Catalist-listed integrated warehousing and logistics solutions provider’s share price move back to 2022 levels with the P/E at 11x. The stock has also averaged a daily turnover of S$768k in the month thus far, up significantly from S$31k for the full 2024. On 13 January, GKE reported a record net profit of S$4.4 million for the six months ended 30 November 2024, a 132.5% increase year-on-year. This was driven by a 13.8% growth in revenue to S$63.2 million, primarily due to strong performance in the warehousing and logistics segment in Singapore and the recovery of the infrastructural materials and services segment in China. The Group also achieved a one-time pre-tax gain of approximately S$1.1 million from the divestment of mining rights to a limestone mine and an 18% stake in a mining joint venture. This divestment did not impact their established operations in China, which include ready-mix concrete manufacturing and construction material waste recycling. GKE also announced its intention to diversify into the sales and distribution of telecommunications mobile handsets and accessories in Singapore. This proposed business diversification aims to pave the way for the Group’s growth and requires shareholders’ approval at an extraordinary general meeting on 27 January 2025. The Group also relayed back in September that it had established a profitable track record for the past five years, and will continue to strive to build on this sound foundation.

The next two best performing stocks among the 100 most actives over the past 12 session were previously listed on the Catalist board, with Rex International (“Rex”) moving to the Mainboard in March 2022, while Grand Venture Technology (“GVT”) made the move in November 2021. Catalist caters to the needs of dynamic enterprises. Companies seeking a primary listing on the Catalist must be brought to list by authorised Full Sponsors via an initial public offering or a reverse takeover. Click here for more information on the growth board.

Rex’s price gain has coincided with a rise in Brent Crude Oil prices, which have increased from below US$75 per barrel at the end of 2024 to above US$80 per barrel currently. This price gain has also propelled RH Petrogas into the highest performing 10 actively traded stocks tabled above with the highest gains over the past 12 sessions. On 6 January, Rex reported a total production of 13,036 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd) from Norway and Oman in December 2024, marking a 28.3% increase from the 10,160 boepd recorded in November 2024. Rex also announced on 17 January its subsidiary Lime Petroleum AS was awarded a new licence in Norway.

On 13 January, Grand Venture Technology Limited (“GVT”) announced its collaboration with the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (“A*STAR”) to develop a customised manufacturing platform for high-value advanced ceramics. GVT highlighted the strategic partnership exemplified its dedication to innovation and technology-driven growth, essential for meeting the evolving demands of its customers in the life sciences and semiconductor sectors. This followed GVT announcing in December its selection as a preferred supplier for High-Level Assembly, including precision parts and components, for next-generation Thermal Compression Bonding equipment by a leading global semiconductor assembly and packaging equipment manufacturer.
