Market Review for STI:
STI opens 8 points down at 3255.650. It made a high of 3256.370 and low of 3234.060. The closing is observed at 3242.640. Index is below 50 days EMA. Some 1.84 billion shares valued at S$765.7 million changed hands. Asian markets were mostly higher after data showed Chinese manufacturing activity picking up last month, while Tokyo was boosted by a weakening yen despite a dip in business confidence.

  • THE Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) comes into full effect in Singapore on July 2, after an 18-month transition period for firms and organisations to get up to speed on the new rules. These rules govern how companies collect, use and protect personal data.
  • TEMASEK Holdings has committed to contribute $60 million to Temasek Cares' endowments, increasing their total endowment from $229 million to $289 million.
  • PRIVATE home prices fell 1.1 per cent in the second quarter of this year over the previous quarter, shows Urban Redevelopment Authority's flash estimates released on Tuesday. This marks the third consecutive quarter-on-quarter drop in URA's widely-watched private home price index.
  • European stock markets advanced on Tuesday, with French bank BNP Paribas higher after agreeing to pay a huge fine and miners leading the way in London after well-received Chinese data.
