What Does Trading Have To Do With Good Friday?

Good Friday is coming around in a couple of days, it's a public holiday for most of us. But what has this holiday have to do with trading, apart from the closure of some financial markets? And how can that tip your trading into profitability? Actually this holiday has a lot to do with trading. In fact, it goes to the very core of how YOU trade.

So What Is Good Friday Really All About?

Well, Good Friday is a Christian holiday marking the death of Jesus at the cross. This followed by his resurrection on, what most people know as, Easter Sunday. It is a religious holiday which commemorates an event which took place over two thousand years ago! But how do those celebrating this holiday, know that something so incredibly miraculous really took place, such a long time ago? It was recorded in a different language, in a time when literature had different interpretation norms, and more exceptionally, it took place over two millennia ago!

If you played the game called Chinese Whispers, you would know that many words and meanings could be lost when just passed from one source to the next. Now imagine if it's something which has been passed down for over two millennia? (You can see we have a few different branches of Christianity now)
How do people then still know it all happened and celebrate this holiday together? To devote their lives to a religion?

The Answer: Faith In Their Beliefs.

(This is a simplistic answer for the purposes of our article, for the full answer is far too complicated for our article.)

Faith is what drives all religions. Faith is very powerful. But Faith on it's own is merely a fuel which burns for another key element. That other key element is the Belief.

You can look around and see the difference between people who have faith in their beliefs, and people who do not.

For people with faith, their actions are guided by their beliefs and they will take action with intense commitment. I'm not just referring to the religious, take a look at our volunteer social workers for a start. Our our health care givers. Our law enforcement. Our firefighters. They believe in what they are doing, and faith that what they are doing, is making a difference to other people besides themselves.

This is exactly the type of faith we need to have in our trading methodology in order to be successful as a trader.

To be able to take ONLY the setups which our methodology dictates.

To stick with our stop loss levels.

To employ reasonable risk management.

To take profits when we should.

To be faithful to our methodology even through times of draw down.

To be faithful to our methodology on a winning streak and you begin to think every trade you touch will turn to gold. (The moment you think this is happening, be very aware of your risk management and the setups which you take.)

You NEED to have Faith in your trading methodology. You must believe that your methods have an edge in the market which will allow you to profit from the markets over the long run.

Oh, and that other little thing which could help tip you into profitability?

You need to believe that you are doing will benefit more people than just yourself.

Good trading to you!
