Common solutions to investment-related issues for the mutual benefit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) are being discussed at a two-day forum in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Opening the second ASEAN-OECD investment policy conference on December 10, ASEAN Deputy Secretary-General for Corporate and Community Affairs, AKP Mochtan stressed the importance of investments from OECD into ASEAN, particularly in the process of global and regional connectivity and integration.
The event showcases ASEAN's regional investment integration achievements and efforts with the aim of promoting experience sharing between ASEAN and OECD countries, he said.
Themed "Attracting Investment for Regional Integration", the conference brings together investment policy makers from ASEAN and OECD members, as well as industry leaders and practitioners in the field.
Its discussions focus a series of issues, including recent investment policy reforms and regional integration, the review of Myanmar's investment policy, the ASEAN legal investment environment, investment promotion and ASEAN supply chain.
The first conference was held in Jakarta November 2010.
Cooperation between the two sides began with the OECD Ministers' Council adopting a resolution in May 2007 to expand the organisation's relations with Southeast Asia.
