While attending the ASEAN-China Expo and the 10th ASEAN-China Business and Investment Summit in China's Nanning city on Tuesday, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said Vietnam always attaches importance to and supports ASEAN-China cooperation for mutual benefits.

During his speech at the opening ceremony of the Expo, PM Dung said that China has been the first and the most important external trading partner of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Following the signing of their Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Economic Cooperation in 2002, the two sides inked a series of agreements, including those on trade in goods, trade in services, and on investment, completing all pillars of the ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement (ACFTA), the PM said.
The two-way trade between both sides has maintained speedy growth, averaging 22 percent per year, Dung said, adding that China has repeatedly been the largest trading partner of the bloc.

In addition, the direct investment by Chinese investors in ASEAN member countries has been growing, while connectivity among businesses and people of both sides has been promoting, Dung added.
PM Dung confirmed that Vietnam always supports and attaches much importance to the cooperation between ASEAN and China, and that the Vietnamese Government also encourages and creates all possible conditions for Chinese enterprises as well as those from ASEAN to invest in Vietnam.

Vietnam also supports the undertaking of research works and exchanges to upgrade the free-trade cooperation between ASEAN and China to meet with all sides' interests, said the PM.

Along with multifaceted cooperation, Dung said, all disputes and differences in the region need to be settled in a responsible and effective manner. He emphasized that all parties should build mutual trust and political will and consult each other to take peaceful measures for the settlement on the basis of international law.
Meanwhile, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang addressed the opening ceremony by underscoring the significance of the events, which mark the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the China-ASEAN strategic partnership and fuel the two-way trade target of US$500 billion by 2015.
The fruitful cooperation between China and ASEAN over the past time is of practical significance for the common development of both sides, he said, adding that China always gives priority to strengthening cooperation with neighboring nations in the bloc.

The Chinese Premier also said China always backs an ASEAN of strong development for peace, stability and prosperity in the region, and welcomes, encourages and creates favorable conditions for businesses from ASEAN to invest in China for mutual benefits.
The annual CAEXPO, which was jointly held by China's Ministry of Trade, the 10 ASEAN member countries and the ASEAN Secretariat, is considered an important event to promote friendship and trade ties among ASEAN member states and China.
About 110 Vietnamese enterprises have displayed their products at 200 out of the 4,600 pavilions at the expo this year, more than any other participating ASEAN or regional country.
The expo consists of five themed areas, with the highlight being the "Beautiful City" field featuring each nation's major cities, including Quy Nhon city in Vietnam's central Binh Dinh province.
Meanwhile, the CABIS, an important annual high-level forum between ASEAN and China, was conducted with an aim to strengthen their strategic partnership and accelerate the establishment of an ASEAN-China free trade area.
