Business Background

EchoStar Corporation (EchoStar) is a holding company. EchoStar, along with its subsidiaries, operates two primary business units: Digital Set-Top Box Business, which designs, develops and distributes digital set-top boxes and related products, including its Slingbox placeshifting technology, primarily for satellite television (TV) service providers, telecommunication and cable companies and Satellite Services Business, which uses its 10-owned and leased in-orbit satellites and related Federal Communications Commission (FCC) licenses to lease capacity on a full-time and occasional-use basis primarily to DISH Network, and secondarily to Dish Mexico, the United States government service providers, state agencies, Internet service providers, broadcast news organizations, programmers and private enterprise customers. On December 31, 2010, it acquired certain assets of Move Networks, Inc. In June 2011, the Company acquired Hughes Communications Inc.
