Business Background

Alliance Mineral Assets Limited is a mining company headquartered in Perth, Western Australia, primarily engaged in the business of developing and exploiting Tantalite Mineral Resource in Australia. The Company owns the Bald Hill Tantalite Mine, the various surrounding Tenements, the Project Intellectual Property, and the Bald Hill Treatment Plant (collectively the “Bald Hill Project”). The Bald Hill Project, which spans 59,000 hectares, is located within the Eastern Goldfields Province of the Archaean Yilgarn Block, within the Shire of Coolgardie, which is approximately 50km east of Widgiemooltha, the nearest township. Australia has the second largest reserves of Tantalum in the world, and the Company will be one of the few producers of Tantalum in Australia. The Bald Hill Tantalite Mine has a proven history of production, and AMA is currently in the final stages of refurbishing the Bald Hill Treatment Plant. AMA expects to begin test production ahead of full production in preparation for the commissioning of the Bald Hill Treatment Plant in the second half of 2014. Tantalum is a rare, non-radioactive metal which is ductile, easily fabricated, highly resistant to corrosion by acid, a good conductor of heat and electricity, and has a high melting point. In its refined form, Tantalum is immune to bodily fluids, thereby promoting the use of Tantalum in surgical instruments. In addition, its resistance to corrosion, heat and wear makes it suitable in the fabrication of chemical process equipment. Other notable applications include furnace parts, air and land- based turbines, X-ray films, electrical generation and camera lenses. Tantalum is widely used in the electronics industry. Major end uses for Tantalum capacitors include automotive electronics, pagers, personal computers and portable telephones. Alloyed with other metals, Tantalum is also used in making carbide tools for metalworking equipment and in the production of superalloys for jet engine components.
