SINGAPORE (April 21): Since its IPO in 2014, mm2 Asia has assembled quite a number of media-related businesses.
Once best known as the producer of the Ah Boys to Men movies, which chronicle life in the Singapore Armed Forces, mm2 Asia today also has an artist management arm, a chain of cinemas, a concert organiser and an online video platform.
It is making content for more markets. And, it has ventured into TV and online content.
"We are the most regionalised media company in Southeast Asia," says mm2 Asia co-founder Melvin Ang.
Ang sees an opportunity for regional players such as mm2 to build a business covering both Southeast Asia and Greater China.
The company's expansion has attracted investors, who have sent mm2 Asia's shares up nearly sevenfold from its IPO price of 25 cents each.
Talk to Ang, however, and it would seem mm2 is just getting started.
